Since I moved into my new house, I’ve been reading a lot more and, because of the Algorithms watching us at all times, I’ve been exposed to people’s opinions on reading far more than I care for. I know with the less-than-stellar quality of my own writing, I’m throwing stones from a glass house. Unfortunately, my mouth is already running with no sign of depleting its fuel. Books Are Bad For You I’ve had teachers tell me since I was a wee lad that if I ever wanted to cultivate real intelligence I would inevitably need to be a bookworm. This worked out for my development, seeing as I already enjoyed getting sucked into a good book (by prepubescent standards) but, for the vast majority of young children, it seemed to have the opposite effect. Reading was no longer an activity of leisure, but a chore, a boulder to roll up a hill. ...

After starting Lattimore’s Iliad many months ago, getting obsessed with comics, putting it down for a while, picking it up again, finishing it. LOVING it, I picked up Shaw’s Odyssey. Read that, finished it, LOVED it as well, and ever since I have been thinking nonstop about these poems. There is so much to talk about and my brain is incapable of staying organized but nevertheless here is my attempt at getting my thoughts in order. Don’t expect anything of quality. ...

(My nvim config and blog can both be found on Codeberg) I love Neovim a less-than-normal amount (is any amount normal?), so much so that I try to do everything possible in it. Being a university student, I have to write a fair bit, and for my little section of the internet, I wanted to take some time to make my setup more suitable for prose. Way back in middle school, when I first started using plain-old-vim, I encountered groff, and the idea of a UNIX-y typesetting language appealed to me. It still does, of course, but groff just doesn’t have the ecosystem latex does. Typst seems cool too, but LaTeX has done the job just fine for me. Maybe I’ll see about making the switch. ...
